A manual coffee grinder holds 200 grams of coffee and grinds 2 grams every time the crank is turned.     A) The amount of coffee remaining is the amount of coffee held at the beginning minus the coffee ground each turns times the number of times the crank is turned.

    This relationship can be written as:

    c = 200 - 2t

    B) Since the amount of coffee changes according to how many times the crank is turned (and not vice-versa), we can say that:

    t = independent variable

    c = dependent variable
