    First subtract 7 from each side

    that leaves you with 6x=6

    divide 6 to 6x and you will be left with x=-1/6

    6x+7=6

    Subtract both sides by 7

    6x+7-7=6-7

    6x=-1

    Divide both sides by 6 to isolate x

    6x/6=-1/6

    x=-1/6
