N is for nickels, d for dimes

n+d=15 because the total number of coins is 15.

5n+10d = 105 because that’s how many pennies worth of your coins you would have (5 pennies per nickel, 10 per dime). The solution to this is you would have 8 dimes and 7 nickels.
