Since you want to know what the 5th term, you substitute 5 for n and solve: f (n) = 5n-2

    5n - 5

    5 (5) - 5 25 - 5

    f (n) = 5

    Literally just plug in 5 for f (n) to get f (5) = 5*5-2=25-2=23
