Alex is painting a house. when alex starts work on monday morning, there are 2452 square feet of surface area that remain to be painted. alex can paint 64 square feet of surface area in an hour.

a. write an equation for the amount of surface area that alex has left to paint after t hours.

b. if alex works for 40 hours a week, will he be able to finish painting the house in a week?

    SA = 2452 - (t * 64)

    Therefore if Alex works 40 hours a week the equation reads:

    SA = 2452 - (40 * 64)

    = 2452 - 2560

    = - 108

    So yes, Alex could finish painting the house in a week (and an extra 108 square feet).
