    By definition:

    E (x)

    = (∑ xi) / n

    this means that

    E (cx)

    = (∑ cxi) / n

    = (c ∑ xi) / n [ by taking out the common factor c]

    = c (∑ xi) / n

    = c E (x)

    Conclusion: proved E (cx) = cE (x)
