    When the solid is a cube, its volume is equal to its side raised to the power of 3. The equation is written below:

    V = s³

    Since 1,000 is raised to the power of 3, then it means that the side length is equal to 1,000 inches. The base of the cube is also a square. Thus, its area is s². Note that there are 12 inches in 1 ft.

    A = (1000 in * 1ft/12 in) ² = 6,944.44 ft²

    Thus, the area of the base is greater than 1 square foot.
