    Angle depression = angle of elevation

    To get the angle of depression we use the formula:

    tan x=opposite/adjacent

    where x is the angle of elavation

    opposite is the height of the cliff

    adjacent is the distance of the ship from the shore

    thus

    tan x=340/450

    tan x=34/45

    x=arctan 34/45

    x=37.07

    hence the angle of elevation = angle of depression=37.1°
