The advantage of the referent made by Dale for the measurement of length is that it came in handy and he need not buy the proper tool for the measurement. The disadvantage is that the measurement may not be made very accurately and that the scaling could be different because the stick is 122 cm in length compared to the usually used one of only 100 cm in length.
