    1 - multiply bottom equation by - 3

    3x+3y=27

    -3x+111 = 33

    111+3y=60

    3y=60-111

    3y = - 51

    y = - 17

    Replace y in first equation with - 17

    3x+3 (-17) = 27

    3x-51=27

    3x=27+51

    x=26
