Which of the expressions below would you represent a 40% increase in the price of a pair of $50 shoes. Explain your answer.

50 x 1.4 = 50 + (50 x. 4) =

    40% of 50 is the same as 0.40 times 50

    so the end cost would be orignal cost+increase or 50 times 1+50 times 0.40 or

    50 (1) + 50 (0.40) = 50 (1+0.40) = 50 (1.40) = 50 + (50 x. 4)

    it's correct because of math, (just think about it)
