If you live in a rectangular city that is 1 mile along the southern border and contains 1000 people, what is the density of people in the city?

    Rectangle is twice as long as it is wide

    If the length is 1 mile then the width is. 5 mile

    Area = length x width

    = 1 *.5 =.5

    Area =.5 square miles

    Put population density in the format of 1 square mile

    So if there is 1000 people per. 5 square miles then there is 2000 people per square mile.
