Ramone wrote the following matrix equation.

A + (8 - 12 3) =

(0 18 - 21)

Which explains why Ramone's equation has no solution?

There is no number that when summed with 8 equals 0.

The matrices must be of the same size in order to perform addition or subtraction.

The sum of 8 and - 12 is not 3.

The matrices must measure 2 X 2 in order to be added together.

Assuming matrix A is 1 * 1 then the ramone equation has no solution because it would be the sum of a scalar with a matrix. Which would not make sense. The matrices must be of the same dimensions to be added.
