The length of the minute hand is 200% of the length of the hour hand.

In 1 hour, how much farther does the tip of the minute hand move than the tip of the hour hand? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

    To answer this question you need to understand that when the minute hand in our hand turn around on the clock face it would represent the circumference that is created by that distance.

    So if the minute hand is double the length of the hour hand, than the diameter of the minute hand would also be doubled. Because the distance of circumference is a one dimensional measurement the tip of the minute hand would move double the tip of the hour hand.

    You can test this with numbers if you have a 2 inch hour hand on a clock, it would travel 3.14*4 inches (12.56 in). If you had a 4 inch minute hand on a clock, it would travel 3.14*8 inches (25.12 in) which is double the distance.
