    2 < 3x - 1 < 5 ... add 1 to all sections

    2 + 1 < 3x - 1 + 1 < 5 + 1 ... simplify

    3 < 3x < 6 ... now divide all sections by 3

    3/3 < (3/3) x < 6/3 ... simplify

    1 < x < 2 <===

    but if u have trouble doing it this way, u can split it

    2 < 3x - 1 3x - 1 < 5

    2 + 1 < 3x 3x < 5 + 1

    3 < 3x 3x < 6

    3/3 < x x < 6/3

    1 < x x < 2

    now put them together ... 1 < x < 2 <==

    either way, u will get the same answer
