How are state and federal appellate courts similar

    State appeals courts are similar to federal courts of appeals in that parties that are dissatisfied with the ruling of a court can take their court to the appeals court to try and get a different outcome. They are both court systems having courts of appeals.

    Both have trial courts at the lowest level to hear both civil and criminal cases.
