    2^n = 88

    To solve an equation with a variable in the power you have to use logs.

    Take the log of both sides.

    log 2^n = log 88

    Using the power rule of logs, bring the n to the front, it becomes a coefficient.

    n * log 2 = log 88

    Divide both sides by log 2

    n = (log 88) / (log 2)

    n = 6.4594
