The answer is kayla is 15 years old while joel is 30 years old

J = 2k where j = Joel's age and k = Kayla's.

j + 5 + k + 5 = 55

Substitute j = 2k in the above equation:-

2k + k + 10 = 55

3k + 10 = 55

k = 45/3 = 15

j = 2k = 30

So Joel is 30 years old and Kayla is 15 years old.
