What does it mean when it says to estimate the sum or difference? In a math problem: 6/7+3/8 and 4/5+2 7/8.

    You perform the two division problems (i. e. 6/7 and 3/8) and then add the two quotients together. therefore by adding the two quotients, you get the sum. the sum of 6/7+3/8 is 1.23 and the sum of 4/5+2 7/8 is 3.68
