    X = measure of angle complement: 90 - x

    supplement: 180 - x

    Four times the complement increased by forty-six = 4 (90-x) + 46

    twice the supplement: 2 (180 - x)

    so

    Four times the complement increased by forty-six is the same as twice the supplement

    4 (90-x) + 46 = 2 (180 - x)

    360 - 4x + 46 = 360 - 2x

    2x = 46

    x = 23

    answer

    measure of angle x = 23

    measure of complement = 90 - 23 = 67

    measure of supplement = 180 - 23 = 157
