A building contractor has a piece of crown molding that is 48 1/2 inches long he cuts off one piece measuring 10 1/4 inches and another piece 2 feet 1/8 inch how much does he have left

    Well, lets first start with 48 1/2 - 10 1/4. We can turn 48 1/2 to 48 2/4. 48 2/4 - 10 1/4 = 38 1/4. Next, we have to convert 2 feet and 1/8 inches to inches, which would be 24 1/8 inches. Turn 38 1/4 to 38 2/8. Last of all, 38 2/8 - 24 1/8 = 14 1/8. He has 14 1/8 inches left.
