8^4 x 8^3 = 8^7 and 8^12/8^7 = 8^5. When you have like bases, you just need to add or subtract the exponents depending on whether you're multiplying or dividing. If you have to get the actual answer, just work out the exponent. (Ex. 8^7 = 8x8x8x8x8x8x8 = 16,777,216) but you probably don't need to do that last part

8^ (4+3) = 8^7 and 8^ (12-7) = 8^5
