Kim won some money. She spent $25 to have her haircut, and lent one - fifth of the remaining money to a friend. after she deposited two-thirds of what was left in he bank, she still had $40. How much money did she win?

    Okay. So this question will have to be worked backwards. Two thirds of what was left would mean that the two-thirds would equal twice the $40, which would be $80, so she had $120 before she deposited her stuff in the bank. Then, she gave 1/5 to a friend, which would have to be $30, because the $120 would be the 4/5 of the price and when you solve for the 1/4 of 120, it's 30, so then she had $150. Then she spent $25 on a haircut, which would mean that the amount she had previously was $175. Kim won $175.
