The perimeter of a rectangle is 30 feet. The difference between the length and the width is 1 foot. Find the width.

    2x + 2y = 30

    x - y = 1

    2x + 2y = 30

    -2x + 2y = - 60

    4y = - 30

    y = 7.5

    x = 8

    The width would be 7.5 ft.
