Alan is a farmer. he has horses, cows, chicken, and 3 sheep. the number of horses equal the number of cows and chicken combined. there are 4 fewer cows than chicken. if there are 55 animals total, how many are chicken.

    55 animals, 3 sheep. 52 remaining. This means there are 26 horses. 26 - 4 = 22. So 22 is the chickens and cows combined - 4. 22/2 = 11. 11 + 4 = 15
