    Hey user!

    your answer is here ...

    let the Length of the ladder be hypontuse and the distance between the foot of the ladder and the base of the building be base. height be the Length from the base of the building to the top of ladder that strucks the building.

    hypontuse = 15 foot

    base = 9 foot

    height = ?

    let hypontuse be c, base be a and height be b.

    according to Pythagoras thereom ...

    we know that a² + b² = c²

    therefore 9² + b² = 15²

    ==> 81 + b² = 225

    ==> b² = 225 - 81

    ==> b² = 144

    ==> b = √144

    ==> b = 12 foot

    the height is 12 foot. hence it takes 13 foot from the base of the building to reach the ladder top.

    cheers!
