    Potential energy is the energy possessed by an object at rest. It is calculated from the product of mass, gravitational acceleration and the height at which the object is rested. We calculate as follows:

    PE = mgh

    PE = 1.00 kg (9.8 m/s^2) (1.25)

    PE = 12.25 J
