    The algebraic expression would be x+x+3=37

    The answer would be that Michael drove 17 hours and Sarah drove 20 hours.

    Work:

    x+x+3=37

    (combine like-terms)

    2x+3=37

    (subract 3 from each side of the equation)

    2x=34

    (divide 2 from each side of the equation)

    x=17

    17 would be the number of hours that michael drove but since sarah drove 3 hours longer you add 3 so then sarah drove 20 hours.

    37-3 = 34

    34/2 = 17

    Michael drove 17 hours

    Sarah drove 20 hours (17+3)
