Why does it take 3 copies of 1/6 to show the same amount as 1 copy of 1/2

    3 copies of 1/6 is 3/6 and when simplified it equals 1/2

    Because 3 x 1/6 = 3/6 which 3/6 is half of 6/6 so it is equivalent to 1/2
