    X = adult, y = child

    2x + y = 22 (1)

    x + 3y = 26 (2)

    (2) * - 2 = - 2x - 6y = - 52 (3)

    (1) + (3) = the 2x and - 2x cancel out leaving - 6y+y = - 5y and - 52+22 = - 30

    -5y = - 30

    y = 6

    Childs ticket is 6 pounds
