What times what is equaled to - 180 but is also added to - 31

So x times y=-180 or xy=-180 and x+y=-31

so

x+y=-31

so if subtract x

y=-x-31

(-x-31) x=-180

distribute

-x^2-31x=-180

add x^2 and 31x to both sides

x^2+31x-180=0

factor

(x-5) (x+36) = 0
