Use pemdas to eliminate stuff ex

x-45=65+35 first you add what you can

x-45=100 then you

+45 + 45

x=145

So lets say you have x+y=12 and x-y=8 you would add them together and the y would cancel so

x+y=12

x-y=8 +

2x=12+8

2x=20

x=10

subsitute

x=10

10+y=12

y=2

just try to cancel out the unknown terms so you are left with less
