    X^2 + 6x - 5 = 0

    2 numbers that multiplied give you 5

    those 2 numbers have to add up to 6

    1 x 5 = 5

    1 + 5 = 6

    (x + 1) (x + 5)

    x = - 1, - 5

    the opposite of the parenthesis
