A homemade dvd of a television series contains 20 episodes. the episodes are 55 minutes each, but contain commercials. if commercials take up 1/5 the time of each episode, how hours of the television series are on the dvd

    1/5 of 55 is 11, you multiply 11 by 20 and you get 220. Total there is 1100 minutes of tv so then you subtract 220 from 1100 and there is 880 minutes of tv without commercials then you divide that by 60 and you get 14 hours and 20 minutes.
