Bill wants to save up to buy a new watch which costs $235. If he already has $75 and he saves $8 each week, how many weeks will it take him to have enough money to purchase the watch? How many days will it take?

    To save up enough you will have to take 235-75 which will equal 160 then you take the weekly pay and divide that, it will take 20 weeks.

    This can be solved by the equation $235 = 8x + 75. To begin subtract 75 from both sides to get 160=8x. With this new equation, divide both sides by 8 to get 20=x or x=20. Since x represents the number of weeks Bill is required to work for the bike, 20 is correct amount of weeks.
