12x - 5x > 35; Meena must sell more than 5 pies each week to make a profit.

Where sales 12x less costs 5x is greater than $35.

    12x - 5x > 35

    7x > 35

    :7 : 7

    x > 5

    To check:

Let x be 6; it is greater than 5.

    12x - 5x > 35

    12 (6) - 5 (6) > 35

    72 - 30 > 35

    42 > 35
