    Alaska actually has a population of 698,473 (2009) Your figure was from 2000.

    Alaska has an area of 663,268 sq. miles.

    To find out how many people per square mile you>>> 698,473 people/663,268 sq. miles.=

    = 1.05 people per square mile.
