    1) How many weeks will Jake and Seth be equal? set the equations equal to each other and solve for x:

    5x + 85 = 20x + 40

    45 = 15x

    x = 3 weeks

    2) How much money will that be? plug x = 3 back into the equation to solve for y:

    Jake: 5 (3) + 85 = $100

    Seth: 20 (3) + 40 = $100

    answer is $100
