    x = - 1 and y = - 1

    Step-by-step explanation:

    to solve this equation we say

    let

    2x-5y=3 ... equation 1

    4y-x=-3 ... equation 2

    from equation 2

    4y-x=-3 ... equation 2

    4y + 3 = x

    i. e

    x = 4y + 3 ... equation 3

    put x = 4y + 3 in equation 1

    2 (4y + 3) - 5y = 3

    8y + 6 - 5y = 3

    3y + 6 = 3

    3y = 3-6

    3y - 3

    divide both sides by the coefficient of y which is 3

    3y/3 = - 3/3

    y = - 1

    put y = - 1 into equation 3

    x = 4y + 3 ... equation 3

    x = 4 (-1) + 3

    x = - 4 + 3

    x = - 1

    therefore the value of x = - 1 and y = - 1 respectively
