During football game, a quarterback standing at the 9-yard line passes the ball to a receiver at the 24-yard line. The receiver then runs runs with the ball half way to the 50-yard line. How many total yards (passing plus running) did the team gain on the play?

    Half way to the 50 from 24 would be to the 37 yrd line.

    He throws from the 9 so 37 - 9 = 28
