I met a man who said, if you can guess my age, I will pay you one dollar for each year that I have lived. I will also give you two hints. If you take my age and divided it by any odd number greater than 1 and less then 9 you will get a remainder of 1. But if you take my age and divided it by any even number greater than 1 less than 9 you will get a remainder of 1

He could be 40321 years old.

If you divide 40321 by any odd or even number between 1 and 9, the remainder is 1.

    I got this number by doing (2*3*4*5*6*7*8) + 1

Answer: The number can be 841

    Step-by-step explanation:

The information that we have is that if we divide the age, let's call it A, we will always get a remainder of 1 for every number greater than 1 and smaller than 9.

    you can do this:

    You know that 2*2 = 4

    2*2*2 = 8

so we have that 4 is divisible by 2, and 8 is divisible by 4, so we can only use the factor 8., that is divisible by 8, 4 and 2.

2*3 = 6, so we can use the factor 3 instead of using 6, and if we want to divide by the number 6, we can borrow a 2 from the 8, because of 8*3 = 4*6

the numbers 7 and 5 are primes, so we must use them, now, let's calculate the number:

    8*3*7*5 = 840

this number is divisible by 8, 7,6,5 4, 3 and 2, for how we constructed it.

    now, let's add a 1.

then we have the number 840 + 1, that when is divided by any of the previous numbers, the remainder is 1.
