    Answer: x = 3

Step-by-step explanation: To solve for x, we must first isolate the term containing x which in this problem is 3x.

Since 4 is being added to 3x, we subtract 4 from both sides of the equation to isolate the 3x. On the left the + 4 and - 4 cancel out and on the right 13 - 4 is 9.

    So we have 3x = 9.

Now we can finish things off by just dividing both

sides of the equation by 3.

On the left the 3's cancel and on the right 9 divided by 3 is 3 so x = 3.

X = 3. First you must take the 4 away from 3x + 4 = 13 by subtracting that. After getting rid of 4 you must do that on the other side. After that you should end up with 3x = 9. Now you must try and isolate the variable, so you then divide 3 from x to get 1. Do the same of the other side. Then you have your answer, x=3
