    the area of the base of the statue is 36 3/4 ft² or 36.75ft²

    Step-by-step explanation:

    To calculate the area of the trapezoid we have to multiply the height by the average of the 2 bases

    h = height

    b1 = base1

    b2 = base2

    a = h * (b1 + b2) / 2

    a = 6 * [ (7 1/2 + 4 3/4) / 2]

    a = 6 * [ (7.5 + 4.75) / 2]

    a = 6 * (12.25/2)

    a = 6 * 6.125

    a = 36.75ft² = 36 3/4 ft²

    the area of the base of the statue is 36 3/4 ft² or 36.75ft²
