    So, just add

    2x+y=4

    3x-y=6 +

    5x+0y=10

    5x=10

    divide 5

    x=2

    sub back

    2x+y=4

    2 (2) + y=4

    4+y=4

    y=0

    x=2

    y=0

    (2,0)

    the result of adding the equation is 5x=10

    y = (1/2) x-1

    You have to set both to y and then add. After that you solve for y
