    (2n - 12) / 2 = 14

    Five times the number subtracted by 12, divided by 2 is equivalent to 14.

    Multiply both sides by 2:

    2n - 12 = 28

    Add 12 to both sides:

    2n = 40

    n = 20

    The number is 20

    28+12=40

    40/5=8
