    7x+4y=14

    y=6x-12

    Reorder:

    7x+4y=14

    -6x+y=-12

    Multiply bottom one by 4:

    7x+4y=14

    4 (-6x+y=-12)

    =>

    7x+4y=14

    -24x+4y=-48

    Combine/Eliminate:

    -17x=-34

    /-17 / -17

    x=2

    Plug x back in to one of the equations:

    y=6 (2) - 12=12-12=0

    Answer:

    x=2, y=0

    x = 2

    y = 0

    Step-by-step explanation:

    To solve by elimination, you have to first change the equations so that you can cancel out one variable.

    Change the second one.

    4y = 24x - 48

    Subtract them:

    7x = - 24x + 62

    31x = 62

    x = 2

    y = 0
