    C. 54 miles

    Step-by-step explanation:

The father walks 36 miles in 12 hours meaning that he walks 3 miles in one hour or 3 mph.

If the son goes twice as fast as the father then he is going at a rate of 6 mph.

So in 9 hours the son will have gone 9 hours x 6 mph = 54 miles
