    Consecutive even numbers have to be integers because only integers are even or odd. Consecutive even integers are two apart. 6 and 8, for example, are 2 apart. Call the numbers x and x+2.

    x+x+2=10

    2x=8

    x=4

    x=4 and x+2=6
