A bicycle trail is 12 mi. long. There are trail markers every mi. along the trail. How many trail markers are there along the trail, not counting the marker at the start of the trail?

    There will be the following markers:

    between 1st and 2nd mile

    between 2nd and 3rd mile

    between 3rd and 4th mile

    between 4th and 5th mile

    between 5th and 6th mile

    between 6th and 7th mile

    between 7th and 8th mile

    between 8th and 9th mile

    between 9th and 10th mile

    between 10th and 11th mile

    between 11th and 12th mile

    After the 12th mile

    together, 12 different markers.
