    w=width

    l = 2w-4

    perimeter of a rectangle = 34

    34 = 2 (2w-4+w)

    34 = 4w-8+2w

    34 = 6w-8

    6w = 34+8

    6w = 42

    w = 42/6

    width = 7

    length = 2w-4

    = 2 (7) - 4

    = 14-4

    = 10
